About us

WE ARE FIRST.

Being a first-generation student is… hard.

My parents were never educated in the US, my Grandparents worked in factories and my great-grandparents were illiterate. My parents came to USA from Russia and Egypt, all the way across the globe, from different cultures, peoples, and educations. Going from that to being in one of the top high schools in the US is pretty amazing, but that did not come without challenges. Our parents had no clue about how the US education system worked, or how complex it is. However, through the challenges, the mistakes, and the setbacks, we have gained a lot of knowledge on how this system works.

What is knowledge when you can’t share it? To help people like us, I created IFirstGen.org to share what we learned. From applications, testing, extracurriculars, and to finances, this website has everything you need to know about colleges and the application process. We will post everything we learned, and everything we will continue to learn so that anyone, first-generation or not, can at least take away something from visiting this website.
